After the WPT Korea Main Event kicked off on Tuesday, another group of players were back in action on Wednesday for the second of two starting flights. This time around, a tally of 96 entries was recorded. Adding Day 1b’s number to Day 1a’s 65 entries brought the total field size up to 161 entries in this KRW 1.5 million buy-in tournament. Of the 96 from Day 1b, 35 advanced to Day 2 with Jessica Bian Hong Yang (pictured) leading the way with a stack of 309,100.
Not only was Bian Hong Yang’s end-of-day stack more than 10 times greater than her starting stack of 30,000, but it was nearly double that of Day 1a’s chip leader, Tsun Ming Chan with 165,500. Needless to say, her day was quite impressive and she’s now in prime position to push forward towards the WPT Korea Main Event title.
Joining Bian Hong Yang in advancing from Day 1b were Poker King Club’s very own Winfred Yu with 83,800, Tilt King’s team pro Danny Tang with 81,300, and Iori Yogo with 66,800, who is third on Japan’s all-time money list. Yu opted to play Day 1b after finishing Day 1a with 24,100 chips, and the maneuver looks to have been a good one as he bagged up more than three times what he did the day before. Yu will now take the biggest stack forward.
Day 2 for the WPT Korea Main Event will see 60 players return to Grand Jeju Paradise Casino at 1 p.m. local time on Thursday. Registration will remain open through the first two levels of Day 2, so the field size could grow. Once registration closes, the official prize pool and payouts will be announced.
