When the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Poker Classic begins this Friday, Amy Barish will be returning to familiar ground. Sort of.
A current resident of Buffalo, New York, Barish lived in Las Vegas for nearly 30 before departing the desert, and hasn’t been back since. Needless to say, the town has changed just a little in the time she’s been gone. But while the Strip may be gaudier and the casinos grander than back in the day, the game of poker remains essentially the same.
A ClubWPT VIP for the past four years, Barish says she’s thrilled to return to her former home town, but even more excited by the prospect of becoming the first woman to win an open WPT Main Event. Barish says she’s also looking forward to enjoying the whole WPT VIP experience afforded to all ClubWPT qualifiers, including the opportunity to meet Mike Sexton, Vince Van Patten and, hopefully, Daniel Negreanu – just so long as he leaves her chips alone.
