Where's They Go??

Aug 29, 2006

Wow, the field has started spiraling downwards in a way I’ve seldom seen. Sure, making the bubble often inspires more aggressive moves, but we’ve just lost a thid of the field in a round.

We’re down to 31 players spread over four tables;

Table 5 is the monster of the bunch, with Day 2 leader Javid Javani, Barry Shulman and Scotty Nguyen sitting all in a row. John Juanda keeps plugging along, sitting around a quarter million, while long-time pro James Van Alstyne sits beside him.

Table 6 Includes Joe Palton, who just lost 200,000 and still has enough chips to be amongst the leaders. Along with him are day 1 chip leader Tuan Le, wh’s now on the shorter side of things and Yosh Nakano, Japan’s best known poker product and drinking partner to John Phan and Victor Ramdin two days ago.

Table 7 centers around two old pros: Huck Seed and Hoyt Corkins. Huck hasn’t had much success on the WPT, so a final table here would be a real notch in his belt. Hoyt, of course, has had measurable success in this arena, so he’ll be one to watch in the coming hours. They’re joined by Ron Faltinsky, who knocked out Phil Hellmuth early on day two.

Table 8 includes professionals /4397//Tim Phan/ and Kevin O’Donnell, both sitting behind solid stacks. Sitting with them are Robert “Chip Burner” Turner, who I wrote about earlier today, along with 2004 World Series final table finisher Mike McLain and Richard Harroch, the vaquisher of all women, at least as today went. He knocked out Jennifer leigh and Vanessa Rousso in successie hands to leave the field mono-sexual.
