The fabulous floating city of Venezia is famous for many things and one of those many things it is famous for is the fabulous Piazza San Marco. After the conclusion of Day 2 of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Venice another Piazza is having it’s five minutes of fame, step forward Wanny Piazza.

Wanny Piazza started the day in 4th place with 154,000 and throughout the day he managed to more than double that effort ending with a lovely looking 373,500. It was a short and sweet story in stark contrast to nine levels of play squeezed into the two combined day ones. Today we only played four levels of 90-minutes and now the players have time to head into the twilight of the city to eat some fine food and drink some fine wine.

When the day started the field contained three WPT Champions Club members: Roberto Romanello, Alessio Isaia and Taylor Von Kriengenbergh. We lost the current WPT Venice champion Isaia but both Romanello and Von Kriengenbergh have made it through to Day 3 with decent chip stacks.

The notable names through to Day 3 are Roberto Romanello, Taylor Von Kriengenbergh, Steve O’Dwyer, Giovanni Rizzo, Arnaud Mattern and Marvin Rettenmaier. Those who feel by the wayside today were Alessio Isaia, Roger Hairabedian, Dominik Nitsche, Salvatore Bonavena and Zimnan Ziyard.

The Top Five

1st – Wanny Piazza – 373,500
2nd – Taylor Von Kriengenbergh – 326,900
3rd – Marvin Rettenmaier – 326,000
4th – Andrea Dato – 282,500
5th – Michele Caroli – 279,000

Day 3 resumes at 13:00 (CET) Friday when we will play down to the money and then onto the final 18-players. Join us, as usual, at wpt.com for all of the action.
