The First Winner Takes The Lead

Feb 22, 2014

Soren Turkewtisch won the first ever WPT at Fallsview back in 2006 and it looks like he’s eying another title this year.

We just found Turkewtisch when facing an all-in shove for 39,000 more while the Canadian player already had more than 30,000 invested. A short stack was all in and it looked like Turkewitsch’s isolation raise had backfired as the third player involved had moved in over the top.

Eventually Turkewitsch called creating a huge pot with about 80,000 chips left behind putting two players at risk.

Turkewitsch: [Kh8h]
Opponent: [TsTc]
Short stack: [Ac8c]

"Ace one time?" the short stack player cried out, as he was looking for some help.

The flop however brought out [Jh3h4h] and Turkewitsch flopped a flush. The third player involved was shocked and laughed out of discomfort as the turn, the [Qd], and the river, the [4d], did not change his fate.

Turkewitsch apologized to the player he knocked out, who shook his hand and said, "That’s poker," as exited with class.

"If that happens on the web I would’ve smashed my computer," a player not involved in the hand said as Turkewitsch stacked up a ton of new chips.

Soren Turkewitsch – 225,000
