Steve Sanzone Finds It's Tough to Bluff a Full House

Jun 29, 2018

John Mooney raises under the gun to 300, Thomas Gropf calls from the cutoff, and Steve Sanzone calls from the small blind.

The flop comes Heart 9Diamond 6Club 4, Sanzone checks, and Mooney bets 500. Gropf and Sanzone both call. The turn card pairs the board with the Heart 6, and all three players check.

The river card trips the board with the Club 6, Sanzone checks, and Mooney bets 1,000. Gropf folds, and Sanzone check-raises to 3,000.

Mooney pauses for a few moments before he says, “Six? Really? Big-blind special?”

Mooney thinks a bit longer before he calls, and Sanzone says “Good call” as he shows Heart JHeart 8 for jack (he turned a flush draw). Mooney turns over Heart 5Club 5, and Sanzone says he didn’t think he was trying to bluff him off a full house. Mooney wins the pot.
