Shooting Star: Jerry Yang

2007 WSOP Main Event Champ Jerry Yang has become a bit of a hometown hero for the poker fans of the Bay Area. While the Laotian refugee calls Temecula, California his hometown, he and his family currently live in Madera, California, which is just south of the San Jose area.

Yang’s poker accomplishments extend beyond his Main Event victory. Yang also made a run in the quarterfinals at last year’s NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship and picked up three WSOP cashes. He also logs a lot of hours at the charity poker tournament tables and is well-known for his efforts to promote charitable causes through poker.
