Sander van Wesemael is Always Smiling

Sander van Wesemael attended the recent WPT European Championships in Berlin, and is now in Day 1b of the WPTDS Brussels Main Event. Regardless of where he is playing, he always has a huge grin on his face. We asked him why he’s so positive at the poker tables.

“It’s more fun,” he said. “You get a better table atmosphere when you’re happy. You enjoy yourself more, the other people enjoy yourself better. If you’re having a good time it matters less if you’re winning or losing!”

It’s safe to say that not everyone at the poker table appreciates a motormouth, but Van Wesemael hasn’t noticed any hostility towards his style.

“No0one has said it to me, but there’s probably someone thinking that I talk too much. It’s definitely gotten less than at the start. When I started playing poker I would talk the whole day straight and I would enjoy myself a lot.

“I just do what I feel like doing. A few years ago I just didn’t want to stop talking, and now only I sometimes want to stop talking!”

And what three words would poker players use to describe “The Weasel”?

“Probably energetic, weird and talkative!”
