Sep 11, 2016

Nathan Papp

Nathan Papp (pictured) topped a field of 257 players to win the WPTDeepStacks Immokalee Main Event on Sunday night at the Seminole Casino Hotel in Southwest Florida. Papp was awarded $68,959 in prize money after winning a final day that clocked in at 11 hours of play.

The returning field of 50 players got down to the final table by 8 pm, and then the action was fast thanks to a double elimination hand that took out Rosario Simone (ninth) and former November Niner William Tonking (eighth). Randy Spain fell in seventh the very next hand, and a few hands later Stever Karp was knocked out in sixth. There was a series of double ups that took place over the next hour and then Steve Trizis fell in fifth. Manelic Manaya (fourth) and Jeff Pringle (third) went out next to give us a heads-up final between Trent Baker and chip leader Nathan Papp.

Baker was able to double up once, but the next time he was all in he wasn’t so lucky. Baker held 6d5d in the hole on the final hand, and Papp had him covered holding Ac9c. The board was dealt 8h7h7dKsJs and Baker was out in second. Papp took home $68,959 in prize money along with a $3,000 Championship package. He also received a WPTDS trophy and a $5,000 seat in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Main Event next August provided by the Seminole Hard Rock on top of the prize pool. Congratulations to our newest WPTDS champion – Nathan Papp!
