Mikael Guenni Bags Overall Chip Lead After PMU.fr WPTDS Deauville Day 1b

A bumper field of 290 players came together for Day 1b of the PMU.fr WPTDeepStacks Deauville Main Event, and 105 players remain going into Day 2.

Coming into the day it was Ekrem Sanioglu who led Day 1a with 190,000, but several players bagged stacks in excess of 200,000 and will be in a commanding position tomorrow with stacks over 100 big blinds.

The biggest stack goes to Mikael Guenni (310,200) (pictured above) who is the only stack over the 300,000 mark. Guenni has close to $600,000 in lifetime earnings, with the biggest cash of his career coming at the WPT Grand Prix de Paris in 2010, where he finished 4th for €187,825.

Other big stacks include Sandro Pitzanti (242,000) and Jean-Paul Vasseur (227,600).

PMU.fr team pro Johan Guilbert also made it through the day, but bagged just over starting stack (34,300). He will join fellow team pros Erwann Pecheux and Francois Tosques in Day 2, but Sarah Herzali failed to make it through Day 1b. She fell just after dinner with jack-king against an opponent’s ace-queen, meaning she will have to support her fellow team pros on the rail when they resume tomorrow.

Other stacks advancing to Day 2 include WPTDS Vilamoura final tablist Gregory Janin (132,900) and WPTDS Brussels runner-up Leonardo Armino (63,900). WPTDS Deauville Opener winner Andrew Hills’ (pictured above) run-good continues as he bagged 191,500 in chips, with WPTDS Marrakesh High Roller runner-up and Casino Barriere Deauville regular Parham Ahoor takes forward 105,000 to Day 2.
