Miami John Cernuto Doubles Thru Eric Haber

Sep 21, 2011

Miami John Cernuto raises from late position and Eric Haber reraises an additional 65,000 on the button.  Action folds back around to Cernuto and he tanks.  After a couple of minutes of thought, Cernuto rises from his seat.

"You know me pretty well," Haber tells him.

"I don’t know you at all," Cernuto responds.

"I’ll show you if you fold," Haber offers.

Cernuto laughs, then counter-offers, "How about you just tell me what you have?"

Cernuto thinks for another minute or so then says, "You can’t win by folding."  He calls for his remaining 125,000 and shows [QdQc].

"Bad read," Haber tells the table as he turns over [9d10d].

The flop is a good one for Haber, as it comes [10c9c5h].  "Oh come on," Cernuto says.  "Don’t do this to me."

Cernuto picks up a straight draw with the [Jd] on the turn and completes the straight when the river brings a king.

As the dealer counts down Cernuto’s stack, Haber says, "Well I guess if I had to wait fifteen minutes for you to call with queens it was a good raise."

"You’ve been showing down some pretty good hands," Cernuto responds.

"Yeah," Haber says.  "I just wasn’t supposed to have to show down that one.
