Ladies in Action

Nov 13, 2012

The poker world is still a male dominated environment – in terms of numbers – but the recent successes of Elisabeth Hille and Gaelle Baumann, at this years WSOP Main Event, is an indicator of the female poker players rise in the game. Here are two of our female competitors getting stuck into the action at the Casino Copenhagen.

We join the action on the turn. The board is showing [Jd] [8h] [3s] [4h] and there are three players involved in the hand; all seated in the last three positions at the table. Kent Lundmark checks from the hijack seat, Rasmus Agerskov bets 1,525 from the cutoff and Kara Scott is next to act on the button. She is sat, palms crossed over her cards, like a beautiful Greek statuette, focussed intently on the board. She makes the call and Lundmark folds leaving just two players to see the final card. The dealer pulls the [Qd] out of the deck and places it onto the felt. Agerskov checks and immediately flicks a glance at Scott. She moves her right hand over to her chips and places a bet of 2,600 over the line. A smile breaks out on the face of Agerskov as he mucks his hand, leaving Scott to take the pot.

Three tables over and Jenny Svensson is plying her trade. There is a 250 raise from early position and then a caller in the hijack seat before Svensson (small blind) and the big blind make it a quartet. The flop is [Ac] [Qh] [4s] and the action checks through to the pre flop raiser who bets 525. Back to Svensson and she check-raises to 1,625 and it is a move that wins the pot.

Jenny Svensson is a Swedish PartyPoker qualifier.
