James Obst Retains Lead With Six Left in 2024 WPT Australia Championship Event

The six-handed final table has been reached in the 2024 WPT Australia Championship Event at The Star Gold Coast. Part time poker crusher and full time tennis player James Obst entered Day 4 as the chip leader and never surrendered the top spot after a dominating performance at the tables to bag up 8,840,000 in chips.

That is nearly two times as many as second-placed Travis Endersby (4,450,000), who has reached back-to-back final tables in WPT-sponsored live events at this location after his third place in the most recent WPT Gold Coast Prime Championship earlier this year.

The UK’s Dillan Patel (695,000) complete the line-up after winning his entry in a live satellite at the Aspers Casino in London. The biggest slice of the AUD $2,930,400 (~US $1,995,016) prize pool will be distributed on the final day and the final six have locked up a cash prize of AUD $120,694  (~US $82,168) already.
