Huge All-in Between First and Second Chip Stacks

Mar 16, 2019

Prishal Kathard

Bruno Pereira opens to 120,000 under the gun and he is flat called by Prishal Kathard who is on the cutoff. It is only the two big stacks who want to get involved and the two go heads up to the flop.

The dealer puts Diamond 2Club 7Diamond 6 out on the board and Pereira decides not to continue. Kathard bets instead but immediately faces a huge all-in from his opponent. Kathard tanks for a minute or two and makes the call and he is a long way ahead.

Bruno Pereira: Diamond ADiamond 9
Prishal Kathard: Heart 10Diamond 10

On to the turn and it comes the Club 5 but the Diamond 4 river hits the flush for Pereira, who can’t conceal his delight. It is certainly the hand and the pot of the tournament so far and Pereira is now a long way ahead of his rivals. It is a tough beat for Kathard though, who will no doubt remember the hand for some time.

Kathard got in the last 115,000 the very next hand with ace-jack and ran into Pereira’s ace-queen. He didn’t find any help from the board and hit the rail in 13th place.

Bruno Pereira – 1,850,000
Prishal Kathard – Eliminated
