High Roller Action Back Underway

Sep 27, 2018

The Casino de Marrakech Es Saadi is a popular destination for poker players from France and Spain, who regulary represent the largest portion of the field in the international tournaments here in Morocco. The WPTDeepStacks Marrakech is no different, after all the winner of the inaugural Main Event in 2017 was no other than France’s Smain Mamouni who topped a field of 433 entries.

A quick look on Day 2 of the 20,000 MAD (2,000 EUR) Main Event reveals plenty of familiar faces in action. With a Spaniard on top of the 67 survivors out of 157 entries at the start of Day 2, two Moroccans follow in 2nd and 3rd place in Mehdi Hsissen and Fadhil Farag. Other big names still in contention are Pedro Cairat, Sonny Franco, Kalidou Sow, Jean Montury, Henrique Pinho, Guillaume Darcourt, Bernard Guigon and Imad Derwiche.

Another name in the High Roller field that stands out especially on the WPTDeepStacks Marrakech Europe TourĀ  is Tobias Peters, who won Player of the Year ranking for 2017. Along with a few other Dutchman, Peters is still in the hunt for the title and will surely also join the action in the Main Event on either Day 1a or Day 1b. As soon as the cards got in the air for Day 2, the re-entry period and registration closed.

Many of those who fall in the hours to come are set to join the field for Day 1A of the Main Event as of 4 p.m. local time.
