Hand #67  –  Matt Berkey (pictured) limps from the cutoff for 30,000, Daniel Strelitz completes the small blind, and Simeon Naydenov checks the option in the big blind.

The flop comes Spade QClub 10Spade 9, and it checks to Berkey, who bets 80,000. Strelitz check-raises to 260,000, and Naydenov folds.

Berkey moves all in for about 820,000, and Strelitz calls with Spade ASpade 2 for a spade flush draw. Berkey turns overClub KClub J for a king-high straight, and needs his hand to hold to stay alive.

The turn card is the Diamond A, the river card is the Spade 5, and Strelitz fills his flush on the river to win the pot and eliminate Berkey on the TV bubble in seventh place.

Daniel Strelitz  –  6,485,000  (216 bb)

Exit Interview with Matt Berkey

On his final hand: “I have a lot of close calls, I mean it’s just kind of the nature of things. Get it in good, hope for the best, try to win one of these things sooner or later.”

On his play: “Yeah, It’s kind of the nature of the beast, right. I don’t play tournaments for a living, but I’ve been working harder on it. I want to make sure that I’m prepared. I feel good, I implemented a lot of new stuff that really seemed to run in my favor. Hopefully that means that the hard work is paying off.”
