Hand #41: Freddy Bonyadi Doubles Thru Justin Young

May 18, 2011

1996 Freddy Bonyadi Doubles Thru Justin Young
Hand #41  –  Justin Young raises from early position to 85,000, Freddy Bonyadi reraises from the small blind to 285,000, and Sam El Sayed (big blind) asks for an exact count of Bonyadi’s chips. The stack isn’t broken down, but Bonyadi counts it out and says it’s 1,088,000. El Sayed thinks for a bit before he folds the big blind.

Young thinks for a bit before moving all in, and Bonyadi quickly calls with [KcKd]. Young turns over [QcQs], and Bonyadi is a big favorite to double up here. El Sayed laughs and says he was thinking of moving all in with "pocket threes."

The flop comes [8d3c3s], and El Sayed reacts to the fact that he would have flopped quad threes. The turn card is the [6s], and the river card is — the [3h]. A few players laugh as El Sayed is caught in a lie — he couldn’t have had pocket threes.

But in more important matters, the pocket kings held up for Freddy Bonyadi, and he doubles thru Justin Young.

Freddy Bonyadi  –  2,728,000  (68 BBs)
Justin Young  –  1,650,000  (41 BBs)
