Hand #161: Allen Carter Eliminated in 3rd Place ($218,471)

Jan 28, 2011

Allen Carter raises from the small blind to 100,000, Alex Kuzmin reraises from the big blind to 275,000, and Carter pauses a moment before moving all in for about 1.7 million.

Kuzmin thinks for more than two minutes before he calls with [AdQd]. Carter turns over [Jc9d] and he’ll need to improve to stay alive.

The flop comes [10c7d2c], and Carter says, "I need the ace of hearts."

The turn card is the [Jd]. Carter pairs his jack, but Kuzmin picks up a flush draw and a gutshot straight draw in addition to his overlords.

The river card is — the [10d]!

Alex Kuzmin wins the pot with a diamond flush, and former WPT Southern Poker Champion Allen Carter is eliminated in third place, earning $218,471.
