Hand #127: Prahlad Friedman Wins the WPT Legends of Poker! ($1,009,000)

Aug 27, 2009

Schaffel raises to 300,000, Friedman reraises to 800,000, and Schaffel thinks for 30 seconds before he moves all in. Friedman lets out a big sigh as he thinks, and Schaffel says, "I’ll give you a count. I know you’re calling, so …"

Schaffel says it’s 2.8 million more for Friedman to call. After another 20 seconds or so, Friedman says, "I call."

Schaffel shows [KhJc], but Friedman has the preflop lead with [AhQs]. Schaffel needs to improve to stay alive, or Friedman will win the tournament right here.

The flop comes [10c3h2h], and neither player improves. The turn card is the [4d], and Schaffel needs a king or a jack to survive.

The river card is the [9h], and Prahlad Friedman wins the pot — and the tournament — with ace high. Kevin Schaffel is eliminated in second place, earning $471,670.

Prahlad Friedman wins the WPT Legends of Poker, earning $1,009,000, a WPT bracelet, and a $25,500 entry into the WPT World Championship.
