Farid Chati Eliminated by Scott Davies

May 5, 2017

Scott Davies

A short-stacked Farid Chati raised from early position. He got one caller and Scott Davies defended his big blind.

The three saw a flop of Heart 4Club 2Club 8. Davies checked and Chati continued f. Hor 1,625. The third player called and Davies min-raised to 3,250.

After the hand, Davies told us that he knew Chati was short and had intentionally raised the minimum amount to try and induce a shove.

Chati did exactly that. The third player in the hand asked whether Chati’s shove was enough to reopen the action. After the dealer concluded that it was, the player just called, as did Davies.

The turn was the Club 7 and Davies check-called a bet of 8,000 from his opponent. Both remaining players checked the Spade Q on the river and the cards were turned over.

Davies’ opponent showed Club 4Diamond 4 for a set, with Chati holding Heart 8Spade 8. However, Davies had them all crushed with a flush holding Club 10Club 5

As he stacked his chips, he bemoaned the fact that he was colourblind: “Every time I play a hand the other players have to help me out,” he picked up a 5,000 and a 1,000-value chip, “These two are really hard to tell the difference!”
