Draft!

Nov 14, 2006

After Tony’s victory yesterday, I had a tough first pick today. I’m a huge believer in Kathy Liebert for talent as a poker player, and especially as a No-Limit Hold’em tournament specialist. A big part of me wanted to pick her.

On the other hand, /X373//Erik Cajelais/ is young, healthy, gutsy, playing great poker and leading the field. His T1,163,000 stack would give me a head start on the day, a bigger deal today than yesterday because we’re dealing with so few eliminations, relatively speaking. In the end, I took Erik, not because of a lack of faith Kathy, but because of a lack of faith in the cards.

After I took Cajelais and Tony took Nenad Medic with the second pick, leaving Ryan to select Kathy and Mimi Tran, likely dooming them to early eliminations. Here’s how the teams look for the day:

Gary

Erik Cajelais
/X412//Ben Armstrong/
Loi Phan
/X426//Michael Perry/
/X418//Michael Vela/

Tony

Nenad Medic
/X403//Frank Dennehy/
/X388//Michael Omelchuk/
/X410//Daryn Firicano/
/X390//Farhad Sinaei/

Ryan

Mimi Tran
Kathy Liebert
/X414//Chris Boyadjian/
Daniel Negreanu
Clonie Gowen

Daniel and Clonie, who have both been eliminated, are confronting Ryan with torches and pitchforks in the corner.
