Curt Kohlberg Doubles Through and Cripples Peter Gould

Dec 17, 2009

Daniel Alaei raises under the gun to 38,000, Peter Gould calls from the button, and Curt Kohlberg calls from the big blind. The flop comes [6d6s3s], Kohlberg checks, Alaei bets 48,000, Gould raises to 144,000, and Kohlberg check-raises all in for 464,000.

Alaei folds, and Gould calls with [As5s] (spade flush draw). Kohlberg shows [6c5h] (trip sixes), and the two players are nearly even in chips, so somebody will be crippled or busted here.

The turn is the [6h], giving Kohlberg quad fours to clinch the pot. (The river card is the [4s], giving Gould his ace-high flush, but it’s no longer any good.)

The chip stacks are counted down, and Gould barely covers Kohlberg by 22,000 in chips. Kohlberg doubles up to cross the million-chip mark.

Curt Kohlberg  –  1,104,000
Peter Gould  –  22,000
