Chip Movers

Jul 13, 2009

A lot of action has happened over the past few orbits resulting in big swings in players chip stacks.  Here’s a quick summary:

Alec Torelli continues to cut up his table, and after doubling up twice is still adding to his stack with about 240,000.

Early chip leaders Cornel Andrew Cimpan and Scott Seiver have both slipped from their high water mark of the day.
– Cimpan: 150,000
– Seiver:  70,000

Mike Mustafa doubled through William Thorson after rivering a set of Jacks.
 – Mustafa:150,000
– Thorson: 24,000

After Hoyt Corkins raised to 1,400 from middle position, David Chiu reraised to 5,000 from behind.  Action folded back around to Corkins who bet enough to put Chiu all in.  The WPT Season VI Champion tank folded, leaving himself with 15,400.
– Hoyt Corkins:  122,000

Phil Hellmuth and Justin Smith have gotten tangled up a couple times this level since Hellmuth has first sat down.  Smith has come out on top in most of the confrontations, chipping away at Hellmuth’s starting stack.
– Phil Hellmuth – 38,000
– Justin Smith – 92,000

Despite being moved to one of the tougher tables of the tournament, Rynie Campbell has thrived.  When first moved to the table a level ago, Campbell had 35,000.  An hour and ten minutes later he sits on a stack of 80,000+.
