Shivan Abdine emerged victorious at Holland Casino Valkenburg to take the WPT® National Valkenburg title and €60,000 in first-place prize money. Abdine topped a field of 255 entries, and also won a seat to the WPT National Brussels €750 Main Event that is coming up.
Abdine is a professional poker player from Sydney, Australia, but he has been in Europe for three months to travel and play cards. He’s spent time playing live and online while in Europe, and will now hold Valkenburg as a special place thanks to this win.

On the final hand, Abdine’s came from behind against the for Mike Hutting. The money went in preflop, and the board ran out to give Abdine a spade flush and the win. The victory came after a three-hour heads-up battle, and Hutting was awarded €40,000 for his second-place result.
For Abdine, the win was the second largest live score of his tournament career, but his largest, and second, live victory.
