On Sunday, after more than nine hours of play, Englishman Lubys Zanas was crowned the partypoker WPT National London Champion, outlasting a 567-entry field at the Aspers Casino Startford. Zanas earned £21,500 and the Crystal WPT National trophy for his first major poker victory.
Following Irina Nikolaidi’s recent win in the previos partypoker WPT Nartional London event, two women reached final table; Daiva Baruskaite and Xuan Nguyen. Unfortunately neither player could top Zanas or Mo Zahour, both of whom reached heads-up play.
With the blinds going to 100,000/200,000, Zahour looked up at the clock and saw that he had less than ten big blinds, so he moved all in with . Lubys called with , which was surprisingly a dominating hand! Zahour received no help from the flop, turn, or river, and was eliminated in second place, earning £15,000.
