Las Vegas, NV (May 31, 2024) James Mackey took down the WPT® Choctaw Championship event Thursday evening. Mackey scored a grand prize of $361,600, which includes a seat in the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas, and now lays claim to his second World Poker Tour® title.

“I would say this one’s way up there,” said Mackey when asked how it felt to win his second WPT title. “Being one of the only people to ever win a same event twice that’s special, you know?”

The $3,800 buy-in Championship event that began at Choctaw Casino & Resort-Durant in southern Oklahoma attracted a field of 603 entrants and generated a prize pool of $2,110,500. The top 76 players walked away with a cash prize of at least $7,000.

“Congratulations to James Mackey for his big win,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “And thank you to everyone that helped make this event happen, from the staff at Choctaw Durant to the final table production team members at HyperX Arena.”

The Championship tournament played down to the final six players at Choctaw Durant. Then, the remainder of play occurred at HyperX Arena in Las Vegas as the final table was filmed for television.

Three-time WPT Champion Eric Afriat finished as the runner-up, earning $235,000. He was preceded by his fellow final tablists Adam Hendrix (3rd place – $175,000), Sebastien Aube (4th place – $131,000), Danny Marx (5th place – $99,000), and two-time WPT Champion Erick Lindgren (6th place – $75,000).

Other notable players that earned a payout during WPT Choctaw were three-time WPT Champions Anthony Zinno (15th place) and Chino Rheem (37th place), WPT Champion Matthew Wantman (50th place), and Allen Kessler (70th place).
