Hand #11: Pat Mahoney Doubles Thru Ryan Hughes

Jan 27, 2011

Ryan Hughes raises from middle position to 23,000, and Pat Mahoney calls from the big blind. The flop comes [Qd10c2d], Mahoney checks, Hughes bets 25,000, and Mahoney thinks a bit before he raises to 68,000. Hughes quickly reraises to 150,000, and Mahoney says, "All in." (Mahoney’s all in is for 427,000.)

Hughes quickly calls with [9d8d] (diamond flush draw, gutshot straight draw), and Mahoney turns over [Qs10s] (top two pair).

Hughes is hoping for a jack or a diamond, and he catches both — the turn card is the [Jd], and Hughes takes the lead. But Mahoney can win the pot with a queen or a ten for a full house.

The river card is — the [Qh]!

Pat Mahoney spikes a full house on the river to win the pot and double up in chips.
