Ronny Beda Asks Nicely

Apr 30, 2011

James Mackey raises to 13,000 on the button and it folds to Ronny Beda in the big blind. He is one of the shortest stacks in the room with around 45,000.  Beda looks at his cards, lets out a sigh, and leans back in his chair.

"I said I was only going to go with aces or kings, but against you I think I play ace-king, ace-queen."  The table laughs and Beda thinks for several more minutes.  At one point, he lifts his cards and several players at the table can clearly see his holdings.  Executive Tour Director Matt Savage tells him he needs to keep his hand protected and Beda obliges.

Beda stands and thinks some more.  "I really want to make the money," he tells Mackey.  He thinks a couple more minutes and eventuall moves all-in for an additional 30,000.

Mackey asks the dealer to pull in the amount of his raise.  "Go ahead and fold," Beda tells him.  "You only have two outs."

Savage again warns Beda that he is walking a fine line and Beda stops.  Mackey thinks a little while and Beda starts talking again.

"Pretty please?  With honey?  I’m a really nice guy."

Mackey does fold and Beda’s jacks take the pot uncontested.

Ronny Beda – 65,000 (11 BBs)
James Mackey – 340,000 (57 BBs)
