Macdonald Wins Big Pot After Five Minute Wait

Jul 19, 2011

Britain’s Thomas Macdonald is up past 100,000 chips after a marathon hand over on Table 2.

He opened the betting with a raise to 5,000 from under the gun and received four callers! The flop came down [5sQd9s] and all five players decided to check.

Then on the arrival of the [7c] turn Valentin Stroiesco (SB), Fiorin Danilica (BB) both checked, Macdonald bet 17,000, forcing Ilya Nikiforov out of the pot but Stroiescu stayed in the pot and called, before Danilica folded.

The river was the [3c] and Stroiescu checked once more. Macdonald sat motionless before announcing he was all in, moving his stack over the betting line. Stroiescu asked for a count and was told 81,600. Upon hearing this he went into the tank for a full five minutes and when he did emerge he could only find a fold, showing [10h10d] in the process.
