New York Times best-selling author turned poker pro Maria Konnikova added a new accolade to her poker resume: World Series of Poker bracelet winner.

Playing in the U.S. 2024 WSOP Online series, which serves players in Nevada, New Jersey and Michigan, Konnikova topped the 468-entry field of Event #12 ($888 NLHE Fall Crazy 8’s) for $68,477.76 and the bracelet.

Whether it’s live or online, winning a WSOP bracelet is often seen as a major achievement in the career of a poker player. For Konnikova, it’s a journey that started in 2017 as she researched for her best-selling book “The Biggest Bluff”. In 2018, she scored her breakout victory at the PokerStars PCA winning the PCA National event for $84,600.
This victory marks another major result in what looks to be the best of her career, one that started in January with another online poker score, when she took down her first online WSOP Circuit ring for $57,532. Since then she’s had back-to-back five-figure cashes in EPT Paris side events, a runner-up finish in an EPT Monte Carlo $1K for more than $55,000, and a final table finish in the EPT Barcelona €3K Mystery Bounty for a career-high cash of over $93,000.
To date, according to The Hendon Mob, Konnikova has just over $750,000 in live tournament earnings.
