Hands #77-79: Vincent Meli Misreads His Hand in a Key Spot

Hand #77 – Arron Pointon limps Club ASpade 4 in the small blind and Francois Tosques has Club QHeart J in the big blind. He raises to 140,000.

Pointon limp-raises to 400,000 and Tosquesfolds his hand.

Hand #78 – Vincent Meli opens Club AHeart J in first position to 80,000. Tosques has Diamond ADiamond 10 in the small blind and three-bets to 300,000. Meli calls.

The flop comes Spade AHeart 8Heart 4 pairing both players’ ace. Tosques leads for 200,000 and Meli calls.

The Club 4 turn is blank and Tosques now checks. Meli checks back.

The Heart K hits the turn and the duo checks it down for the chop.

Hand #79 – Tim Chung opens to 115,000 with Club KClub Q in the small blind and gets called by Meli’s Spade 9Spade 8 in the big blind.

The flop is Spade ADiamond 10Diamond 6. Chung bets 250,000 and gets called by Meli.

The Diamond 2 hits the turn and Chung checks. Meli bets 600,000 and Chung calls.

The river Club 7 gives Meli a straight, but after Chung checks, Meli checks back, misreading that he had the nuts. Regardless, he takes a sizeable pot.
