The largest WPT Prime Main Event in the history of the mid-stakes live poker tour is set to crown a champion at the Asia Poker Arena in Taipei City today. In the second edition of this event in the capital of Taiwan, a staggering field of 1,359 entries emerged and players from six different countries will take their seats on the feature table of the largest poker arena in the Asia-Pacific region.

It has been a very successful stop held in cooperation with the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) and the 2023 WPT Prime Taiwan Main Event is the cherry on top. The TWD 33,000 buy-in easily surpassed the $1 million guarantee and stormed past the WPT Prime Main Event record so far (1,224 entries), which was set at the Gold Coast / Australia in February 2023.

On the nine-handed final table, the biggest slice of the TWD 39,546,900 ($1,237,387) prize pool is up for grabs and the winner can look forward to a top prize of TWD 6,319,800 ($197,741). They will also receive the coveted WPT Prime Main Event trophy and the $10,400 seat into the season-ending WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas on top of their cash prize with travel and accommodation covered by the WPT.

A duo sits atop the leaderboard and has put some gap between the next followers. Dongkyu Kim leads the way with 8,375,000 but long-time Day 2 chip leader Jacky Wang (8,200,000) is right behind. Both big stacks will also sit next to each other on the final table and they are separated by a mere two big blinds.

Third in chips is Yannick Leonard with 5,350,000, one of two European finalists alongside Guillem Segarra (1,175,000). All other finalists hail from Asia with Tao Wei Chang and Feng Wen Chen aiming to keep the trophy on home soil.
