Before we get into the coverage of the AUD $1,500 WPT Prime Gold Coast Main Event, here is an update on Event #6, the AUD $1,000 Mystery Bounty, which is a new and popular format that has been quickly spreading throughout the poker world.

There were 395 entries across two starting flights, and 59 players returned today for Day 2, when the Mystery Bounties kicked in. Every time a player is eliminated, the person who knocked them out gets to draw a random envelope to determine how much they’ve won as a bounty, with prizes ranging from AUD $300 to AUD $31,875.

That top bounty of AUD $31,875 is worth almost as much as second place. The final 50 players finished in the money, and they will be playing down to a winner this evening. Here are the top payouts for the final three finishers:

1st:  AUD $48,916
2nd:  AUD $34,265
3rd:  AUD $22,027

Just a short while ago, down to the final three tables, Yor Ecobiza of New Zealand knocked out a player and randomly drew the grand prize bounty of AUD $31,875. It was an emotional moment for Ecobiza, as this is a considerable amount of money for him.
