Xing Biao Zhu vs. Peter Robertson

Sep 20, 2019

After a flop of Club 9Heart 5Diamond 2, Xing Biao Zhu bets 3,000 from the small blind, and Peter Robertson calls from the button.

The turn card pairs the board with the Club 2, Zhu bets 4,000, and Robertson calls.

The river card double-pairs the board with the Diamond 5, Zhu bets 7,900, and Robertson goes into the tank for a long time. Eventually, somebody calls for a clock, and as the countdown is underway, Robertson asks, “Will you show?” Zhu seems a bit confused for a moment, as if he may not understand English.

The countdown reaches zero, Robertson’s hand is declared dead, and he slides it toward the muck. Zhu motions for Robertson to pick one of his cards to reveal, and Robertson chooses one — it’s the Club A. Zhu takes the pot.

Xing Biao Zhu  –  40,400  (202 bb)
Peter Robertson  –  14,800  (74 bb)

Robertson puts Zhu on ace-king, which would be the two pair on the board with an ace kicker. “I think we had the same hand,” says Robertson.
