Study and practice is the ultimate way to enhance any skill, but if your body isn’t thriving, you’re slowing yourself down both mentally and physically, therefore not performing at your best. The last thing you want is foggy thinking when you’re about to endure a 10-hour poker session.
The first place to start is breakfast. There are loads of reasons to wake up early enough to fit in a morning routine, but let’s start with 10 minutes to make a nutritious breakfast. Here are two of my favorite go-to’s that are rough and ready. No measuring cups required, just throw the ingredients together and you’re set.
Two-Ingredient Pancake
If you have access to a stovetop, mash one small banana with one egg and fry it like a pancake.
Yep. Egg and banana are all you need for your batter. Sounds weird and isn’t going to look as perfectly rounded as a traditional pancake, but it tastes so good topped with berries, almond butter and a light drizzle of honey.
Overnight Oats
No stovetop, but you have a fridge in your hotel room? Try overnight oats.
(You can’t beat a breakfast served in Baccarat Crystal)
Put some oats in a jar or glass, pour some non-dairy milk (such as almond, coconut or oat) until you’ve covered all the oats plus about 50% extra, then cover it up and keep in the fridge overnight. They’ll be ready to dive into in the morning — again, topped with berries, honey and/or a little almond butter on top.

Easy! Don’t run out the door with an empty stomach and depend on coffee to keep you going. Give yourself the real energy your body needs.
