Karim-Olivier Kamal Leads 55 Day 1C Survivors at WPTDeepStacks Montreal with 468,000

The chip leader of the 55 survivors from 284 original entries at the end of play on Day 1C at WPTDeepStacks Montreal is Karim-Olivier Kamal (pictured above) with 435,000. There are now 126 players that have advanced to Day 2 from a total field of 686 entries.

The total prize pool is CAD $998,130. The top 86 players will cash for at least CAD $2,445, and the eventual champion will take home CAD $186,600 at the conclusion of the final table on Monday, which includes a WPTDeepStacks Championship prize package.

Other top stacks were bagged up by Philippe Sousa (371,000), and Steve Daraiche (344,000). Kamal controlled the chip lead for most of the late stages of the evening despite his seat at Table 27 with fellow big stacks held by Daraiche and Tae Cha (291,000).

Familiar faces that did not advance today included Justin Dale Beers, Diana Shamshoum, Steven Joudry, Christine Do, Oksana Kuznichenko, Srinivas Gottiparthi, Alexandre Lavigne, Armand King, Duff Charrette, and WPT Champions Club members Amir Babakhani and Eric Afriat.

Day 2 begins on Monday at Noon. That is when the returning field will start the march down to the money bubble, and play will not end until the final table of nine is set.
