Tobias Mathaess finished 5th in the €1,650 WPTDeepStacks Main Event two days ago here in the Spielbank Berlin and the German is also enjoying a decent start on Day 1a of the €3,300 WPT European Championship as well.

On the tail end of a hand between Mathaess and Qiyang Xu, the latter checked out of the big blind with the board showing Spade KSpade 8Diamond 2Spade 3Diamond 8. Mathaess the button bet 2,750 and Xu called, then quickly mucked to the Diamond KSpade Q of Mathaess.
