Ron Rose is a bit of a Renaissance Man. In addition to being a poker player, Rose is also a successful businessman who once held a seat on the American Stock Exchange, a former mathematician for the Air Force, and a Life Master in Bridge. Ron has a degree in mathematics from the University of Massachusetts. After college graduation, Rose joined the Air Force, where he reached the rank of Captain as a mathematician and project engineer. After leaving the Air Force, Rose became an entrepreneur. Rose later sold his booming internet business to pursue a life-long dream of becoming a professional poker player. He says he started playing poker at family games, and after he left the business world, Rose began playing poker tournaments in the United States and Europe. After he won three tournaments in a single week in 2001, the Aviation Club in Paris gave Rose the Best Overall Player Award. The following year, Rose returned to Paris and won the No-Limit Hold 'em event. Also in 2002, Rose won the Omaha Hall of Fame Poker Classic in Las Vegas. He earned his first World Series of Poker bracelet in 2003. That same year, he scored his first World Poker Tour victory at the World Poker Challenge in Reno. Shortly after that, Rose won the WPT's Battle of Champions that aired on Super Bowl Sunday in 2004. When he's not playing poker, Rose says he enjoys many sports or a quiet game of chess. He has three children and four grandchildren.
