Born in Quebec, Isabelle Mercier took a fairly traditional route when it came to schooling, attending the University of Montreal to pursue a long-desired law degree. During her education, she worked as a blackjack dealer at a local casino, which was her first serious introduction to the casino world. Nevertheless, she took a job as a lawyer but soon moved to Paris, France to continue to pursue a master's degree in International Law at Sorbonne University, a degree that she earned at the young age of 23. While looking for employment, she took a job as a poker dealer at the Aviation Club de France, where she worked up to poker room manager, then tournament director.

After several years of studying poker through her work, Isabelle made the decision to play poker professionally. She sold everything she owned except what would fit in a suitcase, and she went on the road to seek out cash games and lucrative tournaments throughout the world. In 2002, she made an impressive second place showing at the Master Classics of Poker in Amsterdam, then accepted an invitation to play in the 2004 WPT Ladies Night tournament. Her intense, aggressive style, not to mention her win, earned her "No Mercy" nickname from Mike Sexton, and it earned her the respect of poker players worldwide.

Since her television debut, Isabelle has continued to travel and live the life of a professional poker player. In 2005, she won a no-limit hold'em tournament at the EPT in Monte Carlo, and she can be seen at tournaments everywhere seeking a title in a major event. Regardless, she loves the life she lives out of a suitcase and relishes in the fact that she has no regrets among the choices that she has made. Poker is one of her passions, and as long as she can make enough money, she's going to pursue her love of the game.
